A fire broke out in the Maha Kumbh Mela area in Prayagraj on Sunday, leading to the burning of several tents. The fire broke out at 4:00 pm due to cylinder blast. Two cylinders exploded in sector 19 of the Maha Kumbh Mela, causing a massive fire in the campus. Fire fighters are trying to douse the blaze, “Akhara Police Station in-charge Bhaskar Mishra was quoted as saying by news agency.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath visited the site of the fire and spoke to officials and fire fighting teams on the spot.
Fire erupted near the Shastri bridge in zone 19 of the mela. “The fire broke out in sector 19 in the tent of Gita press. The fire spread to the nearby 10 tents. The police and administration team reached the spot.

The fire started in a tent at a camp during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela at Sangam. Then, flames spread to many tents.
Prayagraj: A massive fire broke out in a camp at Sector Number 6 of Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 at Sangam, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday. Nearly 220 to 25 tents caught fire in the tent city of Maha Kumbh. There is no information on any devotees suffering from burns in the fire.
The fire is spreading from one tent to another because of the gusty winds. It is being told that the fire started as a cylinder exploded while cooking food in the tent. After this, the fire engulfed many more tents. The fire is becoming more severe due the explosion of cylinders kept in the kitchen.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached the spot getting the information about the fire and instructed the officials to take up rescue operations. The flames have been put out and no causalities have been reported in the incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called CM Yogi over the phone and enquired about the accident.
